Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg, beaten

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Olive oil (for cooking)

Burger buns

Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, and additional white cheddar slices

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until all the ingredients are just combined. Be careful not to overmix as this can make the burgers tough.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each portion into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Heat a large skillet or grill over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the chicken patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown.

Carefully flip the patties and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the patties are cooked through. If you'd like to melt additional white cheddar on top, add a slice during the last minute of cooking and cover the skillet to help it melt.

While the chicken burgers are cooking, you can toast the burger buns in the same skillet if desired.

Assemble your burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and any additional toppings you prefer. Cover with the top half of the bun.

Serve immediately with your favorite sides like sweet potato fries or a fresh salad!
