Ingredients

1 (12-pack) of Sweet Hawaiian Rolls

6 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup crushed pineapple (drained)

1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare the Rolls: Cut each Sweet Hawaiian Roll in half horizontally, so you have 12 tops and 12 bottoms. Arrange the bottom halves in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.

Mix the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until fully combined.

Add Pineapple & Coconut: Gently fold in the crushed pineapple and shredded coconut into the custard mixture to infuse flavor.

Assemble the Bake: Pour the custard mixture over the arranged bottom halves of the rolls evenly, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Place the tops of the rolls back on top to create a 'sandwich' effect.

Soak: Cover the dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight, allowing the rolls to soak up the custard.

Bake: Uncover the dish and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. If the top browns too quickly, you can cover it loosely with foil.

Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and slice into portions. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
