Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced into strips

1 onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 tablespoon black pepper, coarsely ground

Salt to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated steak to the skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to brown nicely. Flip and cook for an additional minute. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine and Season: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Sprinkle the ground black pepper and season with salt to taste. Stir everything together for another 2 minutes until heated through.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot over a bed of cooked rice or noodles.
