4 ripe bananas

1 cup buttermilk

Begin by peeling the bananas and carefully slicing them diagonally into about 1-inch thick pieces. Set aside.

    In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth to create a batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the bananas but not too thick that it won't adhere.

      Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it's hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
