Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix well until smooth.

Add the brown sugar to the banana mixture and stir until combined.

Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until everything is well blended.

Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, then stir to combine.

Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious chocolate chip banana bars!
