Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 cup beef broth

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp brown sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving (optional)

Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

In a medium bowl, marinate the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to tenderize the meat and absorb flavors.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to sear, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until just browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the sliced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender.

Return the beef to the skillet along with the beef broth, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water to achieve the desired consistency.

Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
