Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup water chestnuts, chopped

3 green onions, sliced

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon Sriracha (optional, adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated

Chopped cilantro and peanuts for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and separate the lettuce leaves and chop all vegetables. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Add Veggies: Stir in the diced red bell pepper and chopped water chestnuts. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the bell pepper is slightly tender.

Season the Mixture: Pour in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and Sriracha, mixing well to combine. Let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare to Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the sliced green onions.

Assemble Wraps: To serve, spoon the beef mixture onto the lettuce leaves. Garnish with chopped cilantro and peanuts for added texture and flavor.

Enjoy: Roll up the lettuce wraps and enjoy them fresh for a delightful, hands-on meal!
